Care and Storage

Your Chief Louie paddle will last for many, many years and countless, unforgettable expeditions if treated well. Treat your paddle like any fine tool. While the paddles are tough, they are made of wood and are not indestructible. Use common sense. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from prolonged moisture. At end of every season, sand lightly and apply a couple coats of marine spar varnish and hang vertically in a cool, well ventilated space. Do not use the paddle to push off from rocks, docks, or lake bottoms as this will inevitably wear through the varnish and may cause significant cracks or chips in the blade.

Warranty

Each paddle is made by hand and unique small variations between paddles are to be expected. We stand behind our product and ensure it is free from manufacturing defects. If your Chief Louie Paddle should have a manufacturing defect, we will replace it free of charge within a year from date of purchase. Look after your paddle and it will look after you.
