Events Coordinator (Part-Time)

SALARY: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour, negotiable based on qualifications & experience
ABOUT CHESLATTA CARRIER NATION
Cheslatta Carrier Nation (CCN) is a First Nations community of 350 members located 25 km south of Burns Lake in BC’s northern interior. CCN’s Core Territory encompasses the Nechako Reservoir and includes portions of Tweedsmuir and Entiako Provincial Parks.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to management, the Events Coordinator supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of community events, gatherings, and special activities for the First Nation. This role provides hands-on coordination support and works collaboratively with staff, community members, Elders, and service providers to help ensure events are well organized, culturally respectful, inclusive, and aligned with community priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with planning and coordinating community events, meetings, celebrations, and special activities, including developing schedules, task lists, and timelines in coordination with management.
Support logistical arrangements such as venues, equipment, catering, transportation, supplies, and event setup and takedown; monitor timelines on event days to ensure activities run smoothly.
Support culturally respectful event planning by working with community members, Elders, and knowledge keepers as appropriate, while respecting cultural protocols, traditions, and community practices.
Represent the First Nation in a professional and respectful manner and support engagement of volunteers and community helpers during events.
Assist with event promotion through community notices, posters, social media, and other communication channels as directed; support registration, attendance tracking, and participant communications.
Respond to event-related inquiries and assist with preparing agendas, schedules, informational materials, forms, sign-in sheets, and event materials.
Track event-related expenses in accordance with financial procedures; maintain organized event files, schedules, contact lists, and inventories of event supplies and materials.
Assist with post-event follow-up, feedback collection, basic reporting, and documentation of lessons learned and recommendations for future events.
Support safe and orderly event delivery in accordance with health, safety, and emergency procedures; maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Experience coordinating events, meetings, or community activities; experience working with First Nations or Indigenous communities is an asset.
Strong organizational, time-management, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with cultural awareness, respect, adaptability, and professionalism.
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as required; part-time hours with a variable schedule depending on event needs.
Combination of office-based work and on-site event support; physical activity may include standing, lifting, or moving event materials.
Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
