Cheslatta Career Fair

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making our first career fair a success. Your involvement is what makes events like this possible and meaningful. Together, we're not just seeking opportunities; we're creating them.

On January 27, we took a significant step for our community by launching the Cheslatta Carrier Nation Career Fair at Grassy Plains Elementary School. This initiative, led by Cheslatta Carrier Nation’s Training & Education Coordinator Pam Herman and Cheslatta Contracting's Senior Project Manager Ojay Matias, was born from our collective desire to create more opportunities for learning and employment within our community.

Our first career fair was a gathering point for 13 community partners, showcasing a wide range of opportunities - Cheslatta Dent, Monster Cheslatta, Stelcon Industrial Services Ltd., Cheslatta Training Centre, ABC Recycling, Green For Life, Boss Industries, Noot’Senay Consulting LP, CANRUSS Medical and Safety Services, Waterbridge Equipment Inc., Three Nations Water Treatment Plant, Cheslatta Contracting LP, RCMP, and BC Emergency Health Service all joined us and shared valuable information about their operations and available job positions, marking the fair not just as a job event but as a foundation for community growth and connectivity.

A standout feature was the virtual reality experience, which offered a unique glimpse into the world of construction and ironworking. It was a hit, providing both entertainment and a valuable perspective on the realities of certain professions.

Reflecting on the day, we're encouraged by the enthusiasm and participation from our community. This event was just the beginning. Given its success, we're excited to announce that the career fair will now be an annual event. It's a key part of our commitment to ensuring that Cheslatta Carrier Nation remains a vibrant community where opportunity, learning, and personal growth are accessible to all.

We look forward to building on this year's success and are already planning for next year's event, aiming to bring even more partners and opportunities to our community members.
